Wireless access

Wireless guest accounts and passwords for internet access will be made available at the beginning of the CIC Library Conference. Please look for the wireless access handouts at the registration table.

Please note, however, the wireless guest accounts are not interchangeable with self-registered "portal" guest accounts used for access to this blog, even though web pages that require login refer to both as "Internet ID." We are creating about 100 "pre-made" guest wireless access accounts for conference attendees.

If you would like access to write new entries on this blog, please follow the instructions on the blog post below. And again, as usual.... if you only want to comment on another person's blog entry - you can do that without a guest ID. Just click on "comment" and type away!

Add your photos, video, book suggestions

Are you a Flickr and/or YouTube fan? Great! Tag the photos and videos you take at the conference as ciclib07 and others will be able to view them on this blog.

If you don't know what I'm talking about, but are intrigued, go to www.flickr.com to create your own account. Then, upload your photos to your account and remember to add a "tag" to the photos that = ciclib07. The blog will do the rest! Go ahead and do the same in www.youtube.com.

There's got to be some book loving LibraryThing people out there, right?! If you'd like to recommend books that would complement the conference, login to LibraryThing as CICLibConf07 and use the password, ciclib07. And if you do add a book, please tag it Recommended by YourName.

Have fun!

Want to write on this blog?

It's easy to become an author of this blog! If you are from the University of Minnesota Libraries, just leave a comment on this entry with your Internet ID and I'll give you access.

If you are from another CIC institution, first you will need to create a guest U of M Internet ID. Guest Internet IDs can be set up to administrate a UThink blog, but they cannot add a new blog or add a new author. Creating a guest Internet ID shouldn't take more than a minute.

Once you have your guest Internet ID set up, leave a comment on this entry requesting access with that guest Internet ID, or send an email to snackeru@umn.edu.

Of course, let me know if you have any questions!

And as usual.... if you only want to comment on another person's blog entry - you can do that without a guest ID. Just click on "comment" and type away!

Welcome to the CIC Library Conference 2007 Blog!

The conference blog is a place to find out what your colleagues are thinking - and a place to contribute your own thoughts.

You can expect lots of traffic on this blog during the conference:

* The planning committee will be adding notes from each speaker and panel,
* a few people are designated as main bloggers, and
* a sub-group of the planning committee will be adding video interviews to this blog.

You, too, are encouraged to participate. Please add your comments to blog entries or go ahead and add your own blog entries.

How do you author on this blog? See the next entry (above) for directions.
