Presidents Award for Outstanding Service
This award recognizes exceptional service to the University, its schools, colleges, departments and service units by any active or retired member of the faculty or staff. Such service must have gone well beyond the regular duties of a faculty or a staff member, and demonstrate unusual commitment to the University community. Nominations for this award are due by March 13, 2009.

FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES
Champions for Healthy Kids
The General Mills Foundation, in partnership with the American Dietetic Association Foundation and the President's Council on Physical Fitness, developed the Champions for Healthy Kids grant program in 2002. Each year since inception, the General Mills Foundation awards 50 grants of $10,000 each to community-based groups that develop creative ways to help youth adopt a balanced diet and physically active lifestyle. Applications are due January 15, 2009.

Consortium for Law and Values in Health, Environment, and Life Sciences
is issuing a call for proposals addressing the societal implications of problems in health, environment, or the life sciences. Awards are available for graduate/professional students, individual faculty, and consortium/joint degree program members. During this nine-week session, students and instructors will consider the civic roles of postsecondary education institutions both past and present. Special attention will be paid to contemporary philosophies and practices of engagement, and how engagement is expressed in various institutional contexts. This course is designed for both practitioners and scholars who seek to deepen their understandings about the ways in which institutions might become more productively involved with communities they serve.
