I design websites for a living--a hobby turned lucrative profession. Just some quick feedback, the site design seems to look almost monochromatic. Maybe throw in some colors to offset the feel. Also my eyes don't have a focal point on the site, force my eye to wander to the content area of the website. Good luck with the new redesign!

Thanks Michael! I asked that an expandable/liquid format be used to reduce the size of the tan background border, but the University standard is a fixed-width format. Oh well; for the next design we'll spice it up....

What are you going to do, at the end of the day you have to design for the client even if the client is terribly wrong. ;)
Cheers.
