"Does African-American Literature Exist?" This article (published by The Chronicle of Higher Education) is attracting a lot of attention. On March 1 the author (Kenneth Warren, a professor of English at the University of Chicago) and Henry Louis Gates Jr. (the director of the W.E.B. Du Bois Institute for African and African American Research at Harvard University) conducted an online chat about the thesis that the genre of African-American literature no longer exists.
