Mission Statement ideas
Mission as is stands now
The (Rolling Art Unit?) exists to diffuse art, engage with community and claim/explore urban public space for artists, students and residents with the use of bike-mobilized media disseminators.
Values Statements:
The Rolling Art Unit
We value the power of art in it’s own right
We value the power of art to facilitate community engagement
We value communities and individuals
We value and respect diversity of opinion, voice and peoples
We hope to expand people’s notions of what art can be
We value alternative modes of transportation
We strive towards a sustainable project
We strive to give voice to communities
see document for full texts and initial mission words
yo so i won't be be here on monday i'll be back in the motherland aka wisconsin
but if we vote on names my top three are
mobile art projection/project MAP
team urban projection Team UP
broadcast art team BAT
i also think the mission statement is great, but i would like to see the world 'interactive' included maybe somewhere in the values statement?? i dunno duder.
also, i really like the phrases for the mission statement/values:
to expand the definition of public art and
to pioneer (excite/revolutionize?) the future in urban art exploration

I still feel like the phrase "claim urban public space" is a bit misrepresentative and has some negative connotations associated with it. We are interested in engaging with the community after all, not taking over per se. What about something along the lines of "interact with"?

I agree with not wanting to imply that we are wanting to take over, I was hoping that by saying claim...for students &c. would get across the idea that we are not doing the claiming for ourselves but for others as well.
but I will try a version with interact
I think it is a fine line between making it sort of like a manifesto and being assertive and not sounding too despotic.
