Weather is looking good for this Wednesday evening...
Let it be known that 'Art on Wheels' will, on Thursday evening (April 17), have a "getting to know you" outing with our contraptions. Be sure to reserve a laptop through checkout if you need to. Let's meet at the entrance of Regis-West at 8 pm.
Cheers and glad tidings!
Please use this calendar to sign up for outings....
Hello friends,
TJ Barne informed me that he's going to get in the installation room and put together a bike today.
Feel free to join him if you can and wish....

A friend told me about this graffiti documentary screening and thought it might be relevant (or entertaining) to our project. I'm going to try to check it out, come join me if you'd like. - Dave

I have found my way into the invite-only symposium Networks and Neighborhoods in Cyberspace, which meets all day on Feb. 11th.
Attending this symposium allows one to apply for a grant in the amount of $250,000. My intention is to present our project, Art On Wheels, and to gain support in the community for advancing it to the next round. This would be an invaluable asset in making this project sustainable over time.
I will therefore not be in class on Monday Feb. 11th; the class, however, will meet as usual and I will request that the Art graduate students among us (Peter, TJ, Meng) to lead the class in advancing our various tasks.
Wish us luck....
We are ON for a panel discussion on Feb. 13, 2:30-4:30pm, in Regis (room to be decided).
The event is during our class hours, but the start time gives us 1 hour to prepare our thoughts and space.
The participants are the following:
-Mary Altman, Minneapolis Art Commission Public Arts Coordinator (confirmed)
-Mike Hoyt, Director of Kulture Klub (confirmed)
-Nora Paul, Director of the Institute for New Media Studiesat the U of M (confirmed)
-Jim Nystrom, UMN Police officer responsible for West Bank and Athletic Facilities (confirmed)
-Tracy Smith, UMN General Council Attorney in charge of student activities (confirmed)
-Steve Johnson, UMPD Deputy Chief
I will act as a moderator for the first segment of the panel discussion (about one hour); we then open the discussion to questions and answers for another hour.
Please leave your thoughts on questions to ask and topics to address as comments to this post.
