For the first assignment I am creating a portrait of Queen (also known as King) Hatshepsut who ruled Egypt in the 18th Dynasty. She was not that well known until her mummy was found recently because her step son who ruled after her literately erased her images and history from the walls of tombs and other monuments that mentioned her. He also had her mummy moved. I want to show that this happened by adding a fading quality to the portrait. She was known to have built many large buildings, including the Deir al-Bahari temple that is in the photo above. She also established importing and exporting items to and from Egypt, including the frankincense tree . I am planning on including both the tree and the temple to show what she accomplished during her rule as king.
