Identity. This is a topic that I have been thinking about quite a lot recently. A core value of mine, that has been tested recently, is trying to be the same person in all situations. I don't want to be someone that radically, or even in a subtle manner, changes their personality for their changing scenary. Here's an example: being a "business person" at work, and a "non-business" person (for lack of a better term) with friends later that evening.

I don't know...maybe this ideal of mine is unrealistic. Of course, I realize that different situations call for different norms of behavior - and it's really not that that I'm talking about.

Identity. The corporate trainer at work. The student at Hamline and the U of MN. The son. The husband. The soon-to-be father. The friend. All of these are titles I guess. They don't define me.

I really hope that I can live a life that makes a difference. I really hope that I can be happy in this life, and that I can be the cause of the happiness of others.

This world is material, short-lived, a "rubbish-heap". But I wish to accomplish so much in this world. I need to maintain a spiritual focus in pursuit of material goals - really focusing on the divine perfections that I can improve along the way (justice, truthfulness, radiance of spirit).

May God help us all.
