My Favorite First Lady!

In response to my previous entry, “ What Political Stereotype Are You?” my pal Wes, who is in law school at St. Thomas, commented that his results also came back as Franklin Roosevelt. Wes informed me that instead of paying attention during law school he chooses to read my blog! Wes, if you plan on becoming my malpractice attorney you better start paying attention in class! He also pointed out that our “wife”, Anna Eleanor, derived from the results, was very ugly. I agree; however, she was a very influential figure that promoted freedom & equality, more than any other First lady. My Favorite First Lady!
Eleanor paved the way for future activists who promoted equality, specifically Women’s Rights. In the mid 1940’s, she served as the chairwoman of the UN’s Human Rights Commission. She also helped draft the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. I strongly believe Franklin & Eleanor (who were distant cousins) were one of the finest-coordinated teams to ever hold office as President & First Lady.

I'm famous! I have been immortalized in a blog! Yes, its true, I read Blaine's blog whilst I sit in class...usually during Professional Responsibility (rather ironic). Your current post causes me to pose another question - Why was it that dearest cousin Eleanor was more influential than any other first lady?. Perhaps, and this is just my opinion, this is due to the fact that she was fugly. I submit that the other first ladies (think Jackie O and more recently Hilary) were too busy getting it on with hottie interns. Eleanor, on the other hand, had no such luck with her staff. As Blaine points out, she had to marry her own cousin just to get a little lovin'.Posted by: Wes at April 13, 2005 02:39 PM
P.S. It could also be due to the fact that Teddy was confined to a wheelchair. Maybe he couldn't get it up and she needed to fill her time with more worthwhile activity.Posted by: Wes at April 13, 2005 02:51 PM
Its probably a concidence that you have written about Roosevelt this week but 60 years ago on April 12th, Roosevelt died. Eleanor may have not been the prettiest of first ladies but she did accomplish much. She fought to give some equality to races, she gave poverty a face by going to Appalachia(sp?) and visiting familes there. She also served as the first U.S. representative to the U.N. Her life was well lived despite the fact that she was not the most beautiful creature. StevePosted by: Steve at April 14, 2005 12:08 PM
oh no you di'nt! i believe i am your wife...or "wife"!! haha J/K LOL OMG anyways, atleast youre still my whoha. better get back to making those damn quilts...Love ya!Posted by: suzi at April 15, 2005 10:50 AM
When I hear you say Eleanor was ugly, I think of a friend who asked what did Charles see in Camella? My reply: Some people think horses are beautiful.Posted by: Robt. at April 15, 2005 04:49 PM
Ok, I'm sorry Blaine, but I just felt like reading your blog, and I noticed the extreme FLATULENCE coming from the keys of the blogger by the name of "Steve". He has no respect, and no idea as to the idiocy he spouts via the internet. There are a couple of things I want to address about Steve: 1. I'm sure you (Steve) feel smarter than everyone else...you seem to want to prove that point every time you post. What you don't seem to realize is that Blaine is ALSO very smart, and I am pretty sure that it was not a coincidence that he posted about Roosevelt on this particular day. There are quite a few people that know the amazing things that Eleanor Roosevelt did, and it is not special that you can look them up on Google.com and post them to someone's blog. 2. Its called "grammar". Give it a try. (I'm not entirely sure that English is your first language based on your posts!) 3. Please get off your pedestal. I realize that this is rather repetitive, seeing as it almost mirrors my first point, but it needs to be stressed. You are not better than any single person that reads this blog, and you are most certainly not better than Blaine. Your comments are not taken to heart, and are most certainly mocked and ridiculed by the rest of the people that read this. Anyway, I’m sure that you will read this and not a word of it will penetrate your thick skull, but it was worth a try. I feel I’ve done my part as a human being. Thanks!Posted by: Rachel at April 15, 2005 07:18 PM
Steve-o...we meet again. Looks like my dear friend Rachel beat me to the punch. Im a little disheartened I didn't see your comment sooner. Luckily when it comes to my friends (like Rachel)and I, great minds think alike. Steve-o, I think it is time to re-evaluate your communication skills. When a couple of 18 year old girls are able to continually find a PLETHORA of inaccuracies in your seemingly inane comments...it just may be time to quit while you are ahead. Well, you know what I mean...I hope...Posted by: Ashley at April 16, 2005 12:25 AM
Okay, I do realize that i have just posted one comment, but I cannot let this one go unscathed. It would be considered a sin in the eyes of God (or something of a higher power...whatever you choose to believe in.) First of all, her name is CAMILLA******, not Camella. Secondly, No "Rob...t", horses are NOT beautiful. Not to anyone with something other than feces for brains. Those who think "horses are beautiful", are usually horses themselves...which explains why they have to convince themselves that people find them attractive. Sorry to burst your bubble. All readers of this blog should know better than to post comments containing NO substance to them whatsoever...especially when Ashley is feeling salty...Posted by: Ashley at April 16, 2005 12:56 AM
My apologizes! My women's studies teacher would have my head. I had hoped to defend Mrs. Roosevelt, instead I stepped into the trap. Mrs. Roosevelt was a grand woman who deserves a respected place in History in her own right not because she was Franklin's wife. Anyway, it was not my intention to defame, or harm women in general or Mrs. Roosevelt specifically.Posted by: Steve at April 18, 2005 04:29 PM
Ashley, Ashley, Ashley.... What the hell are you on? I posted a joke. Sorry if your feeble little brain didn't get it. It was a joke, Jokes don't have to have "substance". Sheesh, girl! I didn't come here to be attacked. Did you even read my comment? I said "SOME people think horses are beautiful." You are right in defining Prince charles as a horse himself. Some folks are into horses faces and other folks are into horses asses like you, Ashley. But I am not one of them. Blain, nice blog you got here. But until you do something about these bitches who leave comments, I won't be back. It isn't cute or funny or salty. Robt.Posted by: Robt at April 18, 2005 05:11 PM
Awwww come on. It was only playful banter! I promise NEVER to do it again. Actually, believe it or not, (which im sure you wont) im not a bitch, and neither is the other "bitch" Rachel. We are relatively sweet girls, with a bit of a mischievous streak. I do apologize I got in the way of an enjoyable experience. Blaine's blog is indeed very enjoyable to many people. I surely would not want you to be deprived of this blog, purely because of myself. My deepest of apologies Robt. p.s. I do not take, nor abuse, any over the counter/prescription medication. p.s.s. I do however have an extremely feeble little brain...*sniffle* thank you for reminding me.Posted by: Ashley at April 19, 2005 11:54 AM
OH GOODNESS! What is all of this NAME CALLING? Robt, I understand your joke, and Ashley and I (or "the bitches" rather), apologize for making fun of you...hold it...I don't think I even mentioned you. How did I get called a bitch? For calling Steve out? I think I need some clarification on THAT front. On another note, Steve, you did not need to "defend" Eleanor Roosevelt. We all know that she is a great woman who did WONDERFUL things for the entirety of the human race. However, so did Mother Theresa, and most people don't find HER attractive EITHER. The quality of one's actions has NOTHING to do with the way a person looks. It is simply a fact that she was not the greatest looking woman in the world. The intent of that remark was obvious. Lastly, just to let you know, the only trap you're stepping into is the one that is left by the vast abyss of your mind. THANKS! *love*Posted by: Rachel at April 19, 2005 04:27 PM

Interesting point. Hillary was the first lady and now she was running for the office till 2 weeks ago, I think if not my favorite the Clinton duo do make an interesting pair. Hillary actually came in the spotlight after Clinton left the office.Posted by: Laura at June 30, 2008 04:56 PM
