Reminder: October 1st deadline for CAA publishing grants

Dear University of Minnesota Minneapolis,

The deadline for CAA's two publishing grants, which support new books in art history, visual studies, and related subjects, is October 1, 2011. To be eligible for the Millard Meiss Publicaton Fund or the Wyeth Foundation for American Art Publication Grant, the manuscript must already have been accepted by a publisher on its merits but requires a subsidy to be produced in its most desirable form.

The Wyeth grant applies to books on the history of American art, here defined as art created in the United States, Canada, and Mexico prior to 1970. There are no geographic or chronological limitations for books eligible for Meiss grants. The publisher, rather than the author, must submit the application to either grant or to both funds, though only one award can be given per title. Both programs have a deadline of October 1, 2011. CAA will announce the recipients of the Meiss and Wyeth grants in late November 2011 or early December 2011.

If you have a book in the works, or know someone who does, I encourage you to review the application guidelines, materials, and list of previous grantees on the CAA website.

Kind regards,

Betty-Leigh Hutcheson
Codirector of Publications
College Art Association
