11 of 35 educators turned themselves in at the Fulton County Jail Tuesday in what is the country's largest cheating scandal, CNN reported.
The educators were indicted after a state investigation of unexplained test score gains in some schools in Atlanta, according to CNN. The educators involved were ordered to turn themselves in by Tuesday, CNN reported.
A grand jury on Friday charged the group with running a conspiracy that secretly increased standardized test scores as a way to get bonuses and job security, the New York Times reported.
The courts are working on setting a bond amount that would allow the teachers with no criminal records to spend the least amount of time in jail, the New York Times reported.
