Project 1 Piece
I chose to make a soundscape of my own room. I wanted to show its qualities of tranquility. I feel like I have accomplished this by adding the rhythm of my own heart beating as it changes pace and volume. I selected sounds of daily actions within my room and mixed them. I placed them in an order that they would be in during a normal evening, but I overlapped some actions while speeding up or abbreviating others. If you listen for it, you can even hear the subtle noise of the fan which was artificially created. Also, I altered a portion of song that I recorded on guitar to act as a soothing undertone of calming harmonies. This was to show the literal representation of the guitar in my room while further arguing for the tranquility of my room.

I really enjoyed listening to this piece. The sound quality was very nice, and it really seemed to reflect the content you had set out in your artist statement. The sounds were very readable and that helped make it into a journey that I could follow as well as allowing me to make a clear visual interpretation of what was going on. The layering of the sounds of music and the heartbeat among other things really emphasized that dream like ambience. The noises of the yawning and computing and eating also made it a very intimate piece, because you can tell this is the subjects personal space. I don't have any specific suggestions, the content was easily understandable while listening to the piece and it seemed very well made.

the use of the heart beat works really well in this piece; firstly, how we see our rooms as a way of isolating our selves from the world, the heart beat re-enforces this feeling of aloneness. The sounds of the various tasks are also done very effectivly, they too create a feeling of being alone, or perhaps it is the absence of any one else making these noises. the sound quality was great. I enjoyed the solitude of listening to your project- I could not help but to think of the sounds in my own space as I write this comment.

The way the heartbeat would speed up in certain parts and slow down in others was very effective in the piece, giving it a changing rhythm. I also thought the sounds that were chosen gave the piece a very personal and private feel like you were going for. The sounds were all very crisply recorded which I always appreciate, and mixed well without any noticeable clicks or cut outs. I don't have any other suggestions, well done.

I found this piece to be really enjoyable. It had a really good calming effect like you were going for since the tranquility of the place was nicely portrayed by the background noises like the fan and the soft music. The sounds that you chose to use in this piece did a good job of giving off an image of a personal room. As a whole the piece was well put together and flowed nicely. Also, the sounds that you used were nice and clear.

If you listen to this piece a few times you get a few different impressions. The first time I listened through the heartbeat kinda overpowered the rest of my experiance. The next time I listened I didnt focus so much on the heartbeat (leting it fade into a background noise) and really concentrated on the other sounds. Some of the sounds I loved were; Writing on something, (sounded like a notebook), yawning, siping the coffee (drink), and the typing. It really sounded like I was a person going about my daily life in this apartment. Good job.
