An Evening with John and Jane

For my project, I wanted to show life, energy, and emotion through the use of color. I started with a completely white set, and used spray paint to add color to the setting. Through the use of color and music, I wanted to add various moods, energies, emotions, and life to an otherwise dull setting. The characters in the animation could be a married couple or are in some sort of a relationship, and the video shows what could be a typical evening in their lives.

I found this video to be very interesting and entertaining to watch. The music that was used fit well and gave it a surreal feel. Having the color spread instead of just appear was a nice effect and having it affect the moods of the people was creative. Also, the sound effects that were used were also a good fit. In the end the video seemed to portray a message that we have these dominant moods from time to time but overall we are made up of a lot of them. Overall I found this to be a well done project.

You did a good job on this project and your final video reflects this. I think the music went very well for what you wanted to portray. It was a little eery and maybe a little uneasy but fit well. The color changes looked gorgeous and made the transitions in the video obvious to the viewer. The sound effects also had a good effect with the clock chiming as the time rolled on. It was well done. Good work

Your video is very strange, but in a good way. After viewing it a couple times, it made me very curious as to how other people would interpret it. I think that there is a great possibility that everyone gets something completey different out of it, and thats what makes it so interesting to me. Even though the characters are obviously reacting to each color in a specific way, your video gets the viewer to think about the colors more and question why the characters end up doing what they are doing.

I thought your video was very well shot and edited. Some of the shots were very beautiful with the vibrant colors and interesting set. I'm still not sure how to interpret every scene but I think thats good and see how people can kind of come to their own conclusions. I really enjoyed the music you put with it as well and thought it went perfectly with the lapsing of time presented in the video.

I thought that the colors you used were very nice and the video, overall, was quality work. I really like the somewhat abstract narrative that these two people go through a cycle of emotions and in the end, they are just a composition of these emotions. This is symbolized nicely by their final color. I like the idea of tying color to mood also. It reminds me of some of the exhibits at the Weisman earlier this semester for the SADD exhibit.
