Imagination

For my final video, I knew I wanted to incorporate as many things as possible that we have covered in the class so far. Unfortunately, I’m not sure I accomplished that goal. I am happy with how my video turned out, but I wish I had time to do a painting animation film. My video is about daydreaming. There are all sorts of whimsical winter activities to do on a snow day, including skating. I chose to have feet shuffling in the snow because I think that almost everyone does it subconsciously, perhaps when they are lost in thought. The idea in the poem is for an imagination to spin, developing intricate ideas, and then realizing that someone is listening to them, and to brush it off as something that isn’t that important, or “just a thought." Visually I showed this by kicking snow over my imagination sequences. I think I accomplished what I intended to and I am happy with how the film turned out.

I really enjoyed the emotion and mood of this video. I am impressed by the fact that your idea inspired your poem which I think helped inspire some more ideas on your videos. Your use of snow as a canvas was a really good move. The composition came together brilliantly.

I enjoyed your video a lot. It was different than anything we've seen so far in class. The poem was well written and your voice seemed very melodic and fitting for the piece. The editing of the ice skating worked well and seemed to enhance the poem as well as the snow scene. Overall, good work.

This video had a quiet, subtle charm about it that I liked. The transparency of the video scenes over the snow worked really well, and the constant moving of the feet in the snow was a different kind of backdrop that I think added to the intrigue of the piece. It was very interesting overall. Good job.

I felt that the overall tone of this video was put together very well. The words to the poem, the way it was read, the two different sets of video footage with one play on top of the other all came together to create a very pensive and ponderous tone that I thought worked very well.

I felt like your video was very well thought out and executed. I'm glad you decided to overlay the clips of figure skaters over the continuous shot of you playfully kicking snow around. The poem was well written and I thought your voice and expression while reading it were fantastic. Great work.
