Stick Man Part II
I am very happy with how my final project came together. I feel like I have put a good end on the story of this stick man character I created and I think my video this time around worked a lot better. I learned a lot about stop-motion by doing project 3, and I think I used what I learned to good extent in this project. The lighting is of a lot higher quality in this video compared to my last, and the pictures are also higher quality because I took them with a digital camera this time instead of a dv video camera. I added sound effects to this video, which is something I didn’t do in the last one, but I don’t know how well it worked. I tried to show through sound that stick man was trying to get back inside the paper, and that is why he keeps banging his head against it, but I don’t know if I conveyed that well enough and if people will know what is going on.
To get the most out of this video, you should watch the first one beforehand, because it is meant to be a story that goes in order. It could still be watched without the first one, but I think it works better if you have seen the first one as well. I also don’t know if the soundtrack in this video worked very well either. I used almost the same soundtrack that I made for my last video because it worked really well in that case, but it didn’t work quite as well in this one, I think. That’s just my opinion, though.

So I thought you did a fantastic job with this project first off. It was cool to see that Stick Man never really died but found his way back onto the table and eventually back into his paper world. It seemed very well planned out and nicely animated. I thought the music was still very good and it was nice to see him find his home again. Good work.

I enjoyed this video, and I think it went well with it's previous one. I especially liked the scene with the whale! The whole getting-back-into-the-paper-world concept was good but I definitly did not pick up on it. It's hard to know how to present that type of idea though. Good job! I liked the stick man series.

What I like best about this video is that you do an excellent job of using the simplicity of your animation to your advantage. Although stickman is not necessarily the most complex character, you do a very nice job of showing his problems and adventures from the three dimensional world back to the two dimensional world. Overall, I really enjoyed the stickman series.

For your own use you should put the two videos together because they fit great. I really enjoyed the part where the guy got his head chopped off because it's sending him the message that no matter what realm he was in his head came off. I didn't remember that until I gave it some thought, at first it just seemed violent that his head got chopped off, but it totally fits! Like discussed in class, the only change I would really have is the noise when he hits the notepad. You could record your own audio for that, maybe even just flicking a stack of post-it notes that are held by the other hand. That might produce the noise you're looking for, but maybe not! Good piece though and good human like characteristics in your stickmen!
