The man who fatally shot Trayvon Martin may remain in jail until the middle of next week due to the concern of not being able to pay his $150,000 bond, his lawyer said, according to Fox News.

George Zimmerman apologized to Martin's family in court Friday for shooting the unarmed 17-year-old, CNN said.

Zimmerman faces a second-degree murder charge, according to CNN.

9-year-old boy killed in dirt bike accident

A 9-year-old boy was killed in a dirt bike accident Friday in Oak Grove, CBS Minnesota News said.

Nickolas Engler was found not breathing on his home dirt track by friends Friday evening, the Star Tribune said.

Engler was an avid motocross biker and was wearing all of the proper equipment to ride, the Star Tribune said.

No one saw what happened, Engler gained permission from his parents to use the track and his friends were still inside getting their shoes on so they could go outside and watch him, the Star Tribune said.

Robert Engler, the boys father, is the Oak Grove assistant fire chief and was the first on the scene to try and resuscitate him, according to authorities,CBS Minnesota News said.

"Every safety precaution was taken. The boy was wearing a helmet, chest guard, he was also wearing boots, gloves, and he was an avid motocross biker. Certainly the father and family knew inherent risks and protected their family the best they could, with the protection equipment they used that day," said Anoka County Sheriff's Office Lt. Lenzmeier, according to CBS Minnesota News.

Amy Senser trail begins

The jury selection will open Monday for Amy Senser's trail involving the hit-and-run that left an immigrant chef dead in August, the Star Tribune said.

Senser, the wife of former Minnesota Vikings star, hit Anousone Phanthavong when he was filling up his gas tank and left the scene, the Pioneer Press said.

One of the main factors in the case involves whether Senser left in panic or ignorance, the Star Tribune said.

6-year-old Etan Patz disappeared decades ago, Monday his case will reopen due to a suspicious stain was found on the wall of a basement, Fox News said.

The stain was found Sunday in the basement of Othniel Miller, 75, who was seen with Patz the night before he disappeared in 1979, Fox News said.

Investigators have ripped up 50 percent of the basement after a cadaver dog picked up human scent, according to CNN.

The floor of the basement was "newly poured" during the time of Patz disappearance and it was never ripped up during the original investigation, CNN said.

Great white kills champion body boarder

A champion body boarder was killed by a great white shark Thursday off the South African coast and may have been caused by a documentary being filmed, according to Fox Sports.

David Lilienfeld, 20, was attacked by a 13-foot-long great white near Cape Town, ABC News said.

"Shark Men" a National Geographic television show that documents the capture and tagging of great white sharks for research is being blamed for Lilienfeld's death, ABC News said.

The workers of "Shark Men" had been 'chumming' the waters, or putting out bait to attract sharks so they could capture them on film, ABC News said.

After the champion body boarder's death the Cape Town environmental officials pulled the film crew's research permit, Fox Sports said.

"There is no evidence or reason to suggest that the tagging of four White Sharks ... had any role to play in the tragic events," a city statement said. "Public and media speculation linking the two unrelated activities is uninformed and misleading," according to Fox Sports.

Argentina 'miracle baby' in critical condition

Argentina's 'miracle baby' is in critical condition after hemorrhaging occurred in her lungs, according to MSNBC News.

The 'miracle baby' title comes from a one pound 12 ounce stillborn was found alive 12 hours later, her name is Luz Milagros Veron, CNN said.

"She's an extremely premature baby, 13 days old and weighing 708 grams (1 pound, 5 ounces). She's in a critical state, quite a bit worse than yesterday and at risk of dying," said Diana Vesco, the head of infant care at the Perrando Hospital, where she was born according to MSNBC News.

Staff that was on duty when Luz Milagros was born checked her multiple times for vitals, she was then placed in the hospital morgue where she lay in a coffin for 12 hours, CNN said.

Her parents wanted to see her for the final time, when the coffin was pried open she was breathing and stretching her arms, MSNBC News said.

"We believe that if our daughter has gotten this far, despite everything, it's because she's here to stay," Luz Milagros' father, Fabian Veron, said, according to MSNBC News.

384 prisoners from a northern Pakistan prison escaped early Sunday morning after the compound was raided by hundreds of Taliban militants, CNN said.

21 of the escapees were high-profile militants, the attackers were planning on freeing a Taliban commander Iftikhar Hussain, the information minister of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province where the prison is located, said, according to CNN.

"We attacked the Bannu prison and got our special members freed," Ehsanullah Ehsan, a Taliban spokesman, told Agence France-Presse, according to BBC News.

3 dead in Ohio restaurant

A domestic dispute left three people dead in an Ohio restaurant Thursday, according to CNN.

Kevin Allen, 51, entered the Cracker Barrel Old Country Store and Restaurant near Cleveland with a loaded gun and began shooting at his wife and two daughters, according to USA Today.

Allen shot and killed wife, Katherina Allen, 42, and their daughter, Kerri Allen, 10. Second daughter Kayla Allen, also 10, is in critical condition, according to USA Today.

Katherina Allen called 911 before the shooting and informed police that she told her husband she was leaving him and "he was not taking it well". Katherina Allen informed authorities that her husband was circling the restaurant where they were celebrating Kerri's birthday, USA Today said.

Police arrived when Kevin Allen was leaving the eatery, he would not surrender and was fatally shot by authorities, CNN said.

Kevin Allen has previous domestic arrests according to police records, CNN said.

An 8-year-old Bemidji boy's condition is improving after he was involved in a sailboat accident that claimed his two younger brothers lives, the Star Tribune said.

Isaiah Risland is at Children's Hospital in Minneapolis, comment on his CaringBridge from his aunt state that he is gaining consciousness and responding to voice, the Star Tribune said.

Isaiah, father and younger brothers were boating on Clearwater lake April 6 when they capsized, authorities said, according to the Pioneer Press.

All three boys were wearing life jackets, and spent about an hour in the 40 degree water. Father, Dan Risland, was unable to reach the boys and swam to get help, according to the Star Tribune.

6-year-old Zech and 2-year-old Jacob died of hypothermia, according to the Star Tribune.

The first group of Minnesota National Guard soliders returned home Sunday, according to the Star Tribune.

215 soldiers from the 1st Squadron, 94th Cavalry, 1st Brigade Combat Team returned to St. Paul the National Guard said, according to the Pioneer Press.

The public is invited to welcome all of the troops who will be returning over the next few weeks, the Pioneer Press said.

"We are very proud of the brigade's accomplishments in supporting the final phase of the Iraq War during Operation New Dawn," Army Lt. Col. Rick Schute said. "We welcome and encourage the public to attend these initial reunions. It means a lot to soldiers and their families when they see the community gather to welcome them home," according to the Pioneer Press.

The soldiers will be carried on buses on routes throughout the state and will stop at armories, including Pine City, Cloquet, Duluth, Hutchinson, Redwood Falls Anoka, St. Cloud, Brainerd, and Bloomington, the Star Tribune said.
