THINKING AHEAD...

Hello University of Minnesota Students,

As summer approaches, I hope you all are looking forward to something exciting. Some of you will be taking some much needed time off, while others will be embarking on a new kind of journey everywhere from UROPs and research opportunities to Studying abroad. While you are enjoying your new adventures, whatever they may be, I encourage you to keep your plans for the fall in the back of your mind. For seniors, resumes and personal statements will be more successful if you begin them as soon as possible. Juniors, take a look at your plans for after you graduate: whether you enter the work force, begin your career, or decide to continue study as a graduate student, you will need resumes, scholarships, internships, or fellowships and applications are often due by Spring of your Junior Year. To Sophomores and Freshman, consider you major(s). It’s never to early to have resumes, personal statements, essay and job interview practice, and a head start with any extra scholarships or grants. MCAE is prepared with resources for Undergraduate and Graduate students, no matter what you need. Summer help will be available, and in the fall, there will be someone in the Scholarship Resource Room who can help. If you have any questions at all feel free to e-mail Syressa Lewis at lewis676@umn.edu.

Have a safe summer, whatever you do, and remember – It’s never too early to start planning ahead!
