Tribosphere-arium

It appears I am not alone in the Tribosphere, as many others are in the tribosphere along with me. There is this vague feeling of being in a Tribosphere-arium – sort of like a planetarium, only there are cats in the sky, not stars. My dear and close friends (here is the website for one family member: http://www.marilynlammert.com/) have to put their cat, Morrison, to sleep on Monday morning after a long life of fourteen or fifteen years. Yesterday, when I went to the YMCA, there was a delay in getting checked in because the staff person was on the phone trying to handle some problems she was having with her cats. When she hung up, she smiled at me and said, “Problem with my cats." Then last night after a long day of work, we set out to start a Netflix movie; we had two choices: Beowulf, Director’s Cut or Take Care of My Cat – a Korean film by director, Jeong Jae-eun. Needless to say we chose the former.

How do you know when you're in a tribosphere-arium? Well a good clue might be when, instead of thinking of Pot O' Gold Bingo, you think of Pot O' Cats Bingo. Yeah, I would say that is probably a pretty good indicator ...

Tribosphere

What is a tribosphere?

The word came to me in a deluge of emotion that has distracted me from my work - the word seems to perfectly capture where I am today. In search of a possible meaning outside of my own internal one, I did a Google search and landed these two honorable mentions: http://vertebratepaleo.com/downloads/GondwanatheriaThesis.pdf and http://www.wutang-corp.com/.

For me, a tribosphere can be defined as follows:
trib•o•sphere n. ˈtrib oˌsfɪər - Show Spelled Pronunciation [trib-o-sfeer] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation

1. (often initial capital letter ) half of the terrestrial cat-tribe globe or celestial cat-tribe sphere, esp. one of the tribe-halves into which the earth is divided.
2. a cat-tribe map or projection representing one of these tribe-halves.
3. a cat-tribe half of a sphere.
4. Anatomy. either of the lateral cat-tribe halves of the cerebrum or cerebellum.
5. the area within which something tribe-like occurs or dominates; tribe-sphere; tribe-realm.

The tribe has inspired me to start this blog (that I'm not so sure I can keep up and/or have enough technological savvy to manage) on their day of departure - four sweet cats that we have cared for over the past four plus months who just left today on a 1400 mile journey east by car. Their owner is my mentor (http://blog.lib.umn.edu/hgroteva/innergeek/ ) who inspires me on so many levels – most recently, my renewed loved of cats. He has always encouraged me to start my own blog, so the timing seems fitting to mark a new blog beginning with a tribute to the tribe.

And now, it is time to travel back into the tribosphere where I am not expecting to meet any "tribosphere placentals, marsupials, and/or deltatheroidians" or the Wu-Tang Clan any time soon. Hopefully, I will only encounter four sweet idiosyncratic Tonkinese purring softly somewhere in our house.
