According to a 2001 Harris telephone survey, about two out of five (३९%) adults in the United States live in a household with at least one gun.
The number of households in the midwest and west that report having guns is about the same as the national average, while fewer households in the east and more in the south report having guns:
west 39%

east 34%
south 43%
