N.C.A.A. Issues Postseason Bans for Poor Academic PerformanceBy PETE THAMEL
Published: May 6, 2009The N.C.A.A. released its academic reform data Wednesday, and for the first time issued postseason bans for poor academic performance.
“It’s an expensive ordeal,” Myles Brand, the N.C.A.A. president, said of providing adequate academic support. “Those schools who can’t afford it are more likely to run into trouble.”Among the few high-profile programs hit with penalties were the Mississippi and Minnesota football programs. Each will lose three scholarships this season.
One of the top three public research universities in the world [sic] ?
For shame.
