Foundation for International Medical Relief of Children

Are you looking for a way to get involved in a student group? If you're interested in a service-oriented group that knows how to have fun while helping others, we would like to encourage you to get join Foundation for International Medical Relief of Children (FIMRC).

The University of Minnesota chapter of FIMRC was founded in 2004 to provide access to medical care for the millions of underprivileged and medically under served children around the world. In order to meet this goal, we are looking for dedicated individuals who can help our cause. Our past events include benefit concerts, art auctions, and a speaker series with topics such as health disparities and culture in medicine.

Craniofacial Research Opportunities

University of Minnesota School of Dentistry

Inquisitive, academically strong undergraduate students are invited to participate in mentored research programs for periods of at least one semester. The scope of research opportunities might be captured with the phrase, “building a better head” and areas of investigation range from innate immunity to bioengineering. Participating labs use the latest research techniques and state of the art equipment, and conduct experiments on questions of significant scientific interest.

Successful applicants will show serious interest in pursuing a research career, perhaps partnered with a career in clinical dentistry. Each semester, students will register for at least 2 credits of research hours and commit at least 10 hours per week to the laboratory. A learning contract will be established for each student researcher.

Mellon Scholarship Announcement

The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation has partnered with Cedar Creek Ecosystem Science Reserve (CCESR) to oer scholarships to prospective undergraduate CCESR Summer Field Research Interns. CCESR Internships provide students with the opportunity to learn experimental methods in ecology, pursue independent research, and become part of a world-renowned academic research community. Mellon Scholarships cover a weekly salary of $440, on-site housing, and travel expenses.
