We have been assured that library systems will be the last to be brought

Wireless Options for Guests

Guests to campus may use the UofM Guest network for free. You can use any existing e-mail address to log in to this network.

Please keep in mind that this service is "best effort." It offers no encryption and is limited in bandwidth and capacity.
Other options for guest access

Presenters, conference attendees, and other official University guests should use one of the following options for accessing wireless:

* University staff and faculty can request free sponsored access for guests
* Departments can request sponsored accounts for guests for a fee
* Conference guests can receive a sponsored account
* Customers with Service Gateway access may create and manage Guest accounts at no charge

Note: OIT has discontinued the service by which guests can sponsor themselves by purchasing a wireless account with a credit card. Guests should either use the ?UofM Guest? SSID or use one of the above options.
University students, staff, and faculty

University students, staff, and faculty should log in to the "UofM Secure" network with their Internet ID (X.500) and password to take full advantage of the wireless network.

Please comment with your initials to confirm you've read this post.

Thanks,
Emily

SAS not working

Hi All,

The SAS program is not working due to an expired subscription. Hopefully it will be fixed soon.

There are other places where people can access SAS, like the Coffman Computer Lab, etc.

E-Journal Issues

Hi all,

I'm passing along a couple of quick e-journal access updates on problems we've encountered over the past few days:

1. Frontiers in Bioscience - Our access to this title has been limited to 2009 ONLY because of spiking costs. You should say the following by way of explanation: "Frontiers in Bioscience changed their subscription policy with 2009, making it cost prohibitive for us to provide access to any but the current year. We apologize for the inconvenience."

Then direct patrons to ILL; however, keep in mind that we're limited to 5 requests from the most recent 5 years per title before we begin asking patrons to assume copyright charges. We'll hit that ceiling fast for this title (we're at 2 requests right now).

2. The "Clinics" series - Nicole is working on fix for this, but for the time being, you should advise users to access these titles directly through E-Journals, rather than through a database. Otherwise the user will end up having to link through Find It twice.

Please post so I know you're up-to-date, then read on for some kudos!

Thanks,
Emily
