         <title>Tracing a Common Past: European History Between the Meuse and Rhine Rivers</title>
         <description><![CDATA[<p>Tracing a Common Past is an exhibit presented by Deutsche Forschungsgemeinshaft DFG (German Research Foundation, the University of Minnesota Libraries, and the Center for German & European Studies at the University of Minnesota.</p>

<p>This exhibit presents some of the results of a collaborative research project funded by the German Research Foundation, DFG. For its Minnesota run it is augmented by objects from the large collection of artifacts from the University of Minnesota Libraries. Visitors of the exhibit wil travel through several centuries and to a series of cities. Topics include the development of early modern cities, Jewish communities and Jewish-Christian relations, the education of girls, money lending in the Middle Ages, papermaking and the new media, and markets in the early industrial age.</p>

<p>This exhibit runs through Thursday, April 30, 2009 and is located in Wilson Library and 1st and 4th floors and Elmer L. Andersen Library. </p>]]></description>

Anderson Gallery on the 4th floor to view a public exhibit of rare, original documents related to early travel, including the James Ford Bell Libraryâ€™s original 1507 <a href="http://bell.lib.umn.edu/1507map.html">WaldseemÃ¼ller gores globe</a>, the first map to include the word â€œAmerica.â€?</p>

         <title>Books Moving to MLAC</title>
         <description><![CDATA[<p>Over the next six months, the University Libaries will move 150,000 volumes (generally older and lesser-used books) from Wilson Library to the nearby Minnesota Library Access Center in order to make room in the stacks for collection growth over the next five years. </p>

The Archive was produced by the USC Shoah Foundation Institute for Visual History and Education.</p>
