The NHL will announce on Thursday that the 2013 NHL Winter Classic will take place at Michigan Stadium. TSN.ca reported that there will also be events at Comerica Park in downtown Detroit. The NHL game will take place on Jan.1 and will pit the Toronto Maple Leafs vs. the Detroit Red Wings at the venerable Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Michigan Stadium hosted a college hockey game between the Michigan Wolverines and Michigan State Spartans on Dec. 11 2010.
The New York Times reported that the Great Lakes Invitational, the legendary college hockey tournament, will take place at Comerica Park. Comerica Park is a baseball stadium that is the home of the Detroit Tigers of Major League Baseball.
The TSN.ca story reported that two Ontario Hockey League games and an AHL game will take at Comerica Park. It is unclear whether Michigan's hockey team will play another outdoor game at "The Big House".
