It's a (580) brick house!

Hello! Everyone is doing well and greatly enjoying the weather and the people here in Bukoba! Early this morning we went back to Bukoba secondary school to deliver the textbooks and glassware that we brought for them. They had a few of the girls from one class come to receive the gift and they seemed satisfied with the new reading materials, so that was great! We also got to chat again with the headmaster and assistant headmaster about other needs of the school, and we have great ideas for projects for the next years' trip.

Afterward, we went back to the village from yesterday to continue to help build the woman's new house. They had made a ton of progress with the foundation since yesterday, so today we spent most of the morning and some of the afternoon hauling bricks to the build site. In total there were about five to six hundred bricks, and the majority of them had to be carried about 150-200 meters to the site. So in short, we got a great work out today and got very dirty in the process! While working we also met a bunch of the children living in the area who ended up helping us complete the job. The kids were super friendly and playful, and we all enjoyed their company and help while working. Tomorrow we hope to visit the Mugeza school to bring our donations and to visit with the children, so check back for an update on that!

Thanks for the 'postcard' descriptions, guys. The mayor of Bukoba was in Waconia, MN last week - made our local paper . . . was touring various City utilities and services. I don't know if there's a sister city in the works but the timing is very fun. Per news on the ground, brought with him a fine choir which sang at Faith Lutheran on the 23rd. Thinking of you trying to get things done at the end of the rainy season -- we're storming and winding here, but all is well -- just a serious prairie Spring.
