Good Afternoon: I hope you have had a good week and are looking forward to a relaxing Holiday weekend. A few things to share this week:

County Election Filings: Filing for County elective offices close on Tuesday, June 1. Please summarize the filings that have occurred in your county for Commissioner and other county offices and forward the summary to me when filings close.

County Budget discussion: All of our counties are in the beginning stages of budget development. I would like to schedule a staff meeting with the County Extension office team to discuss the 2011 Extension budget development. I have already met with several counties, but for counties where we have not met, I would ask that the County Support look at a time that works with your office and my schedule to have this discussion.

Extension Committee meetings: The next round of Extension Committee meetings will be on the following dates:

June 15 Meeker
June 29 McLeod
July 8 Lyon
July 12 Kandiyohi
July 12 Chippewa
July 12 Lincoln
July 19 Renville
July 20 Lac qui Parle
July 20 Yellow Medicine

A couple of personal notes:

A number of you have asked about the recovery of our son Brian: His accident was eight months ago. Yesterday, he had an appointment at Hennepin County Medical Center and received the report that he has fully and 100 percent recovered from his brain injury. Thanks to everyone for their prayers and support.

Also, I am riding in the MS 150 on June 12 and 13. If anyone is interested in making a contribution to benefit Multiple Sclerosis research and support you can visit my personal page.

Good Afternoon: I hope you have had a good week. We can all look forward to sunnier, warmer and dryer weather over the weekend. A few things to share this week.

2010 Elections: Filing periods for elected positions where a primary is possible begins on Monday, May 18th and continues until Tuesday, June 1. This filing period includes County elected positions such as County Commissioners, Auditors, Sherriff etc. To help me be up to date on the races in your county, please send me updates on filings as well as any press statements or campaign literature from the candidates for County Commissioner and Auditors offices.

Election dates: Primary election day will be Tuesday, August 10 and the general election day is Tuesday, November 2. Public meetings cannot be held when polls are open on election days.

County Website maintenance: As we move into a busy programming time of the year, please take time to keep the County websites up to date. For scheduled events, be sure the events are entered into MyPrograms prior to the event so the event shows up on the County website calendar. County based staff should post the County information, (premium books, hot topics etc) and Regional staff will post regional and state information (4-H newsletters, Regional and State events like YELLO etc.) to the website. For Information Technology section on the Extesnion Employee site has a guide for making changes to the your website. For additional help contact the Regional Support Staff.
