Good Afternoon: I hope you had a good weekend and are enjoying the first day of summer.

With summer come the predictable Food Preservation questions from our clientele. The most recent Home Food Preservation - 2010 newsletter provides resources for directing the clientele to the resources to address their questions. The U of M Extension Food Safety
web page
provides additional information including 5 minute mini modules on the following useful topics: 4-H Food Preservation Guidelines
Age and Skill Level Ideas
Crunch Time Pickling 101
Dry It You'll Like It
Must Have Know About Food Pres Resources
Reduce Risks Safety First
Stop Botulism
Unsafe Outdated Food Pres Methods
What's Wrong with this Canning Recipe
You Be the Judge

Also, with summer comes the potential for severe weather. Last Thursday much of Minnesota was impacted by tornadoes. Fortunately our region was not affected. The Extension tornado web page was activated and is featured on the Extension Public Website. This is a photo of what's left of the 4H Building, (Dining Hall portion), on the Wadena fairgrounds.

Have a good week.

Bob
