For those of you who are staying at Bailey Hall, here is information about how to get from the airport to Bailey Hall by public trasportation.

Lindbergh Terminal
If you are traveling to the Lindbergh terminal, then you may just take the lightrail system Route 55 towards downtown Minneapolis. It passes every 5 mn at the airport. Once you get to downtown, you may get off at the Nicollet Mall/ 5th St stop and then walk to your right towards 4th St (1 block) where you can take the Bus # 16 that takes you to the U of M, Minneapolis Campus. Once you get to the campus, you should get off at the stop in front of Coffman Memorial Union. You should stay right there and get the campus connector that goes to the St. Paul Campus. There are a few shuttles that go through there, so make sure you ask if it goes to St. Paul before you get in. Once you take the shuttle, it will take you all the way to Bailey Hall.

Humphrey Terminal
If you are using the Humphrey terminal, everything is the same except that you have to take an airport shuttle from the Humphrey terminal to the Lindbergh terminal first.

*** This information will not apply if you are traveling on Saturday.

Airport Information

Airlines Serviced by the Humphrey Terminal:
AirTran Airways, Champion Air, Icelandair, Midwest, Omni Air International, Ryan International and Sun Country.

Airlines Serviced by the Lindbergh Terminal
Air Canada, America West, American, Comair, Continental, Delta, Frontier, KLM, Mesaba, Northwest, Pinnacle, SkyWest, United, and U.S. Airways.

It has just come to our attention that First Lady Laura Bush will attend the Fourth Regional Conference on Helping America's Youth (HAY); August 2-3 on the St. Paul campus of the University of Minnesota. Mrs. Bush will appear at noon on August 3, at the St. Paul Student Center.

The Student Center is, unfortunately, just a few buildings down from our conference site. We anticipate that her presence will wreak havok on everyone's abiliy to navigate the campus without complications.

We ask that you prepare yourselves for security checkpoints if you are driving onto campus and that you be patient with delays. We realize that the situation is far from ideal and we apologize.

Meanwhile, let's all think about ways that we can put the "A" back into MALCS this year. Activas y Unidas!

The Days Inn in nearby Roseville has relatively inexpensive hotel rooms, from $55-95. This is an inexpensive choice if you are driving or renting a car because you will need transportation to & from the conference site. There really are no hotels within walking distance of the St. Paul Campus. However, if you stay in a hotel on the Minneapolis campus, (there is another Days Inn on University Avenue), you have access to an intercampus shuttle that will take you to the St. Paul Campus and drop you near the conference site. (Other hotels on the Mpls. campus are the Radisson University & the Holiday Inn Metrodome. Both are within walking distance of the intercampus shuttle. All hotels near the Minneapolis campus offer a much greater selection of nearby restaurants. If you decide to stay in the Holiday Inn Metrodome, you are close to the train (Route 55: Download file) which takes you to downtown Minneapolis, the airport, or the Mall of America.
