University YMCA Metro Internship

ETHICAL LEADERSHIP, INTERCULTURAL AWARENESS, SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY & PROFESSIONAL
DEVELOPMENT
Developing ethical leaders for 37 years

A DIFFERENT KIND OF INTERNSHIP

The University YMCA Metro Internship Program has thrived since 1970 because of its unique focus on ethical leadership and its high standards for interns and placements. Our interns have gone on to become CEOs, Senior VPs, and business owners who lead their organizations with the ethical standards learned at the University YMCA.

Through weekly readings, speakers, and discussion, students are challenged to question the way organizations are led, as well as their own personal leadership.

Simultaneously, they explore these issues while working with leaders in a local corporation. This unique combination not only helps the interns to become better and more ethical leaders, but allows the people they work with to critically examine their own leadership and that of their organization.

1 Million Strong to Build a Village in Somalia

UniFersal.com has teamed up with, the non-profit organization, Lift Kids to give everyone an opportunity to help out with the crisis in Somalia.
Minneapolis, MN, November 30, 2007: UniFersal.com has pledged to give $.10 to the cause for every person that becomes a member on their website from December 1, 2007 to April 30, 2008. The goal is to achieve one million new members by April 30, 2008. It does not cost anything to become a member or to use the services of UniFersal.com.

Why Somalia?
Somalia has the worst humanitarian crisis in Africa. Seventeen years of civil war has caused an economic collapse throughout the country. According to United Nations officials, Somalia has higher malnutrition rates, more current bloodshed and many fewer aid workers than Darfur, which is often publicized as the world's most pressing humanitarian crisis and has taken clear priority in terms of getting United Nations-backed aid. The people in Somalia are hungry, exposed, sick and dying. The few aid organizations willing to brave a lawless, notoriously dangerous environment cannot provide enough relief to help the suffering people.
