Tales from the Road

Hello, everyone!

I wish I could tell you I was updating this from a scenic beach in Jamaica or Hawaii, but as it stands, I'm shivering in a chilly Minnesota May and wondering just when my toes will stop freezing.

Nonetheless, I'm looking forward to hearing stories from all of you about your adventures! We'll be releasing our first mini-issue in September alongside the launch of Parachute, formerly called the Shooting Star*. A link to our new site will also be provided here upon release.

We'd love to see your work in the September edition or beyond! Please head over to our SubMishMash account to send your work. All submissions guidelines are listed at the link. In addition to fiction, nonfiction, and poetry, we are also accepting visual media and multimedia.

Until the launch of our new site and our new edition, dear readers, keep journeying. We look forward to hearing your tales from the road.

Tales from the Road is now accepting submissions from all undergraduate English majors and minors!

We are accepting submissions from all students (regardless of when you went abroad!) for the online blog "Tales from the Road."

Please check the submission guidelines posted under Categories (right column) for further information.

The deadline for our first edition is January 18, 2010. Any submissions after that date will be considered for future editions.

The Undergraduate Studies office in the Department of English is proud to bring you a brand new blog dedicated to study, volunteer and interning abroad. This blog is designed for students to reflect creatively about their experience abroad.

Why is it called Tales from the Road? It is inspired by Robert Frost's well-known poem "The Road Not Taken". We believe that students that have the courage, innovation and ambition to step outside of their normal University setting should celebrate their efforts. This is also students' chance to get published online (which looks great for resumes and graduate school applications).

All entries will be reviewed by the Undergraduate Studies office staff before publishing. Entries of fiction, non-fiction, poetry along with photo essays, multi-media content and other medias are welcomed. Students are encouraged to submit their work through the following link:
