Wow! Obama puts the smackdown on HRC in Iowa. His victory speech was pretty good and if you were new to Barack Obama you had to be impressed. I see him rolling over the remaining candidates over next couple of weeks or so. If you want to see how enthused the D’s about their candidates over the R’s and their candidates, take a look at these numbers:

Iowa Caucus Democrat participants: 237,000
Iowa Caucus Republican participants: 115,000

If all votes were compiled together:

24.5% Obama
20.5% Edwards
19.8% Clinton
11.4% Huckabee

This week’s top 10:

1. Here Today – Beach Boys
2. I’m Always in Love – Wilco
3. Carolina Moon – Thelonious Monk
4. Rockin’ in the Free World – Neil Young
5. Always – Patsy Cline
6. Summerteeth – Wilco
7. Drop the Pilot – Joan Armatrading
8. Without a Trace – Soul Asylum
9. Sudden Stop – Kelly Hogan and the Pine Valley Cosmonauts
10. Car Song – Woody Guthrie

I read somewhere else that it was 293,000 Ds that turned out yesterday.

Who drops out now? Or do the also-rans hang on until at least NH to see if they can make a showing?

Thanks for those stats Free. I was hoping Democrat turnout was higher ...

I thought I saw 237,000. Could be wrong. As a point of comparison Shane, I think there were 65,000 D's in 2000 so a 3-fold increase is nothing to sneeze at.

Snyder, Dodd and Biden gone, Richardson won't survive past NH, is Kuchinich still running? I forget.

Here's a piece of insightful political analysis you can use on your friends: John McCain is NOT going to do as well as expected in NH because his popularity relies on Independents. Obama is going to take a lot of those independents to his side, leaving McCain lacking.

You read it here first.

I guess Kuchinich is still running since I saw on KARE 11 just now that he files a complaint about being excluded from some debate coming up soon. Also saw a bit from the local Obama campaign led by Ellison and McCollum with my Council member, Ostrow, in attendance. Wonder how awkward that was...

Looks like McCain drew the independents better than Obama did today. Nuts.

I was hoping for another HRC smackdown. The sooner the Dems show her the door, the better off they'll be.

At least my T-wolves got a win tonight.
