Bridges Fall Down

"A bridge in America shouldn't just fall down."?
The collapse of the I-35W Bridge in August focused national media attention on Minnesota and renewed a decades-old debate over how we finance the interstate highway system in this country.
Listen to University of Minnesota professor, geography department chair, co-director of the new University Metropolitan Consortium, and internationally known expert on cities and urban transportation systems, John Adams, as he discusses the broader implications of this Minnesota tragedy and explores possible solutions for the future.

Great idea with the audio file/blog. I was at the live event, and I got to admit I expected more about the Bridge Collapse, but did not go away disapointed. Prof. Adam's "Get What You Pay For/Pay What You Get For" theme resonated with me.

I would like to challenge my fellow bloggers: If you were elected King of Minnesota, had absolute power, and pursued Adams' "Balance Sheet for Minnesota", what would your legacy be? How would you protect the state's assets, while negating the liabilities?
