In June, six future journalists donned Kevlar helmets and spent a week producing stories while embedded with Minnesota National Guard soldiers during training exercises. Two of the students and the National Guard battalion commander involved in this experience will speak at this public event.The students will also screen video news reports produced by their team. Harry Boyte will use stories from Minnesota to kick off an interactive discussion of how ordinary citizens can take action at the community level to make change and strengthen our democracy.

Fr. Lapsley and his organization work to make it possible for stories to be told and heard in ways that transcend barriers between people, including stories of military service in a time of war. He is being hosted at the Humphrey Institute as part of the Warrior to Citizen Campaign.
