Immanuel Iyadurai (MArch, 2002)
Associate, Christner Inc.
Iyadurai's MArch thesis, "Architectural Representation: An interactive digital media prototype," was published in A+D, an Indian architectural magazine, in Jan 2005. He also instituted a travel scholarship for students.
Lisa McNelis (BArch, 1988)
Owner, McNelis Architects
In 2005, McNelis had a project published in Cottages (Taunton Press) and in 2007 was identified as one of Seattle's Top 50 Remodellers in Northwest Home+Garden magazine.
Paul Reimer (BArch, 1995)

Reimer won a 2007 Design Merit Award from Western Mountain Region, AIA for Rincon Mountain Residence.
Robert Cunningham (MArch, 1983)
Principal architect, Housing New Zealand
After 17 years of private practice as the director of Cunningham & Partners Ltd., Cunningham has taken up the position of principal architect for Housing New Zealand, the Crown provider of social housing for New Zealand.
Blake Thorson (BArch, 1988)
Project manager, JAM Shell Builders
Thorson notes that architecture practice takes more than being a good architect. Working on the builders' side raises awareness of knowing how and by what methods buildings come alive.
Michael Joyce (BArch, 1973)

Argyle Design is currently designing all the exhibits for the Children's Museum of Houston expansion, due to open in March 2009.
Judd Peterson (MArch, 1987)

As chair, Peterson is most proud that the Building Enclosure Council of Minnesota (BEC - Minnesota) along with AIA Minnesota, AIA National, NIBS, BETEC, US Dept of Energy, and Oak Ridge Laboratories organized the first Building Enclosure Science & Technology (BEST 1) Conference in Minneapolis, June 2008. Participants, experts in building enclosure technology including several from the University of Minnesota, came from all over the world for a three day discussion about the latest technologies in the field. Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak greeted the participants with a description of the efforts of the city to improve building performance.
Barbara Lyons Stewart (MArch, 1978)
Owner, Lyons Stewart Architects
Stewart was the feng shui architect for the west coast office of The Republic of Tea. Recent projects include the interior design for clients including the AIA San Francisco chapter office, Anshen + Allen Architects, and ABC/KGO TV. Stewart co-authored Feng Shui: A Practical Guide for Architects and Designers in 2006 and is presently working on her second book, From Cave to Condo and Corner Office: 18 Ancient Design Principles that will Make us Happier and Healthier Today.
Paul Snyder (BA Arch, 1974 and BArch, 1978)

Snyder is currently working with USAID and the Kingdom of Jordan developing new school designs to help the kingdom better educate it's population and develop a knowledge Economy. In 1999, Snyder received the Grand Prize award for Centennial Middle School as the best new school in America.
Eric Mikkonen (BS Arch, 2002 and MArch, 2007)
Intern architect, Mohagen and Hansen Architectural Group
Mikkonen designed Senator Amy Klobuchar's office space at 1200 Wshington Ave., Minneapolis using geen materials, including bio-composite solid surfaces, recycled carpets, and demountable wall systems. He also designed the St. Paul Preparatory School, an international high school on the first floor of Galtier Plaza in St. Paul.
Susan Blumentals (BArch, 1959)
Founding principal, Blumentals/Architecture, Inc.
Blumentals is enjoying being retired from the profession after 50 years of actively being involved in both work and AIA. She is one of very few Minnesota female grads to achieve fellowship in AIA, and presidency of AIA Minnesota, Minnesota Architectural Foundation, and the Board of Registration.

Gregory Kraus (BS, 2003)

Kraus recently won the 2008 Remodeler of Merit Award (ROMA) for a basement design in the under 1,000 square feet category as well as an Honorable Mention for the National 2008 Master Design Awards in the category of Kitchens over $100,000.
Louise Brodman (BArch, 1980)

Brodman has completed the first LEED platinum house in Rhode Island.
Randolph Hansen (BArch, 1971)
President, InterPlan Inc.
Hansen has received an AIA Gold Medal and the John Stetson Award for outstanding service to the profession from Palm Beach Chapter AIA. He is currently serving on the Planning, Zoning, and Appeals Board for the city of Palm Beach Gardens.

Tello is working for a non-governmental organization in Chiapas, Mexico.
William Wells (BS Arch, 2003 and MArch, 2007)

Wells designed the Ivy women's clothing store in Uptown (Minneapolis).

Keltner has received two AIA Los Angeles Design awards since working in Los Angeles, including one for the design of a 150-foot yacht.
Simon Beeson (MArch, 1995)

Beeson has recently established a new undergraduate program in architecture at The Arts Institute at Bournemouth. Following a first pilot year of 18 students in 2007, the school welcomed 40 new students in October 2008.

Johnson is almost fully retired and spending summers on Deer Lake near Grand Rapids. He winters in suburban Philadelphia.

Larson is completing a LEED-certified idea house, built by Dovetail Renovation to be published this fall in Progressive Farmer magazine and open to the public for tours.

Ekman oversaw the construction phase of the exterior stabilization of Folwell Hall at the University of Minnesota.
Wayne Holtan (BED., 1977 and BArch, 1977)

Holtan participated with the California Architects Board in development of an occupational analysis survey of practicing architects. The results were used to serve as the basis for the development of the test plan for the California Supplemental Exam, part of the state architectural licensing process.
Gregg Gossens (MArch, 1980)

Gossens is the past president of the Vermont Chapter of AIA and recipient of more than 25 state, regional, and national design awards.
Jane Hession (MArch, 1995)
Architectural researcher and writer
Hession is the president of the Frank Lloyd Wright Building Conservancy and author of the book Frank Lloyd Wright in New York: The Plaza Years, 1954-59, which won the 2008 Independent Publishers' Gold Medal in Architecture.
Gary Milne Rojek (MArch, 1992)
Principal, Bentz/Thompson/Rietow, Inc.
Milne Rojek received NCARB certification this year and is now a registered architect in four states. His firm was recently awarded the Hennepin County Southdale Regional Center renovation project and the expansion to the Minneapolis Jewish Day School.

Harmatuck recently attended a ten-day design charrette in St. Petersburg, Russia with an international interdisciplinary team to design a hotel and new community just west of St. Petersburg.
Steven Groth (BArch, 1982)

Groth recently completed a 600-bed residence hall at the University of Wisconsin, which won a national AGC Marvin M. Black partnering award. He is currently working on the restoration of a Frank Lloyd Wright American system built home in Milwaukee, and a renovation at the Milwaukee County Historical Society.

Lampert's firm recently completed it's 28th year with over 2,000 completed projects throughout the midwest.

Welch was recently hired by Rafael Vinoly Architects as project architect for a major research facility for the University of Texas system.

Taylor created and is setting up a program so that all graduating seniors at Sedona Red Rock High School have an opportunity for post-secondary education.
Robert Findlay (BArch, 1967)
Professor emeritus, Iowa State University
Since retiring from Iowa State University, Findlay completed two Peace Corps/Crisis Corps assignments in disaster management in the Cook Islands and in El Salvador. He was elected to the board of the National Peace Corps Association. He is the trust board vice president for conservation of the Olmsted Bros. designed Dunn Gardens in Seattle and served as juror for AIASWWA and Spokane design awards.
Mark Nickelson (BS, 2005)

Nickelson just completed project management for one of the first LEED certified interior office spaces in the area, located on two full floors of a high-rise in Minneapolis.

Armstrong was appointed to the Minnesota State Designer Selection Board as a public member in 2007.

A ARCHITECTS, Inc. was the first firm to design a hotel for Hilton, fully using building information modeling and hold a patent on their mobile office.
Stephen James (MArch, 1999)
Director of planning and community design, Kennecott Land - Rio Tinto
James won the 2008 Ralph Rapson Travelling Fellowship competition. His planning and design work was featured in a recent Urban Land Institute publication, Developing Sustainable Planned Communities.
Jacob Welhouse (BS Arch, 2004)

Welhouse was part of a team that received a 2008 Honor Award from the American Planners Association for Outstanding Planning of the City of Sauk Rapids, Minnesota, while he was with Barbour LaDouceur Architects.
