Strategic Career Planning for Design

1 Credit, Open to Sophomores, Juniors, Seniors & Recent Grads

May Session DES 3160
8:45am - 10:40am Tuesdays & Thursdays
--146 McNeal Hall

This course is ideal for students in a design major/minor looking for full-time jobs or internships. In this economy, it’s important to be strategic about your job search. This course covers topics that will prepare you for your job/internship search including:
--skills assessment
--writing a design friendly resume
--effective interviewing
--job searching
--portfolios
--salary negotiation

NOTE: If you are a student graduating at the end of spring term, you may register for this class and it will not affect your graduation. Your record will be reviewed at the end of the spring semester to ensure all requirements for the degree have been completed, and if they have, the college will clear you for your degree and the Office of the Registrar will change your registration status for the May term to "non degree."

However, you may CHOOSE to change your expected term of graduation to May session if you have financial aid or if you wish the grade from the class to be included in your graduation GPA. The deadline for applying for the May term graduation has technically passed; if you have applied for your degree spring 2009 and wish to change it to May term, contact Laurie Gardner at lgardner@umn.edu (via your official U of M email account) and she will change your expected term of graduation from spring 2009 to May term 2009.
