March Diversity Dialogues

Diversity Dialogues Presents:
Annie Mogush Mason
Tuesday, March 9th
12 Noon in 40 Peik Hall
Co-constructing the culturally relevant teacher and researcher (Struggles to define and enact it)

Annie will present excerpts from two interviews with Head Start teachers during which she and the teachers rely on co-constructed definitions of "culture" and "cultural relevance" in a Native American setting. After sharing a preliminary conversation analysis of the two excerpts, Annie will invite discussion about how to engage in critical research when the researchers and participants are working from different definitions of key concepts. Together, we will explore questions about static versus dynamic definitions of culture, legacies of domination, and the utility of interviews as a data source.

Please bring a bag lunch if you like!
