2010 Minnesota Early Intervention Summer Institute

About the Summer Institute
The Minnesota Early Intervention Summer Institute is a unique professional
development opportunity provided to the early childhood field through
sponsorship by the Minnesota Department of Education. Gain new insights and
develop new skills for your work with young children and families. Enjoy the
traditional activities that Summer Institute participants have enjoyed
through the years, including the lunchtime barbeque and the evening wine and
dessert reception hosted by Minnesota DEC. You’ll find the lusciously
landscaped and serene campus of St. John's University provided the perfect
setting for learning, reflection, and rejuvenation.

Sessions
Intensive breakout sessions explore a single topic over the course of the 2
days of the Institute. Sessions are available for 12 CEUs or one academic
credit, as selected when you register online. This year's sessions and
presenters are:

*Evidence-based Practices for Young Dual Language Learners: Language,
Culture, and Practice (Lillian Durán)
*Infusing Caregiver-Child Observation and Coaching into Reflective
Practice Models (Mary Ann Marchel, Christopher Watson)
*KidTalk: Naturalistic Communication Intervention for Young Children
(Ann Kaiser, Megan Roberts)
*Play and Learn: A Universal Design Curriculum for Children of ALL
Abilities (Mary Sullivan Coleman, Laura Kreuger)
*Premature Babies--Helping Parents Navigate an Unexpected Journey
(Jolene Pearson, Joann O'Leary)
*Promoting Social and Emotional Competence in Young Children: An
Overview of the Pyramid Model (TACSEI)
*Routines-Based Intervention (Lee Ann Jung)

Regsitration is $75 for Minnesota residents and $175 for non-Minnesota
residents and includes the complete 2-day event, meals and lodging as
detailed on the website. Payment is accepted by check (with or without PO),
credit card (Visa/MC), or EFS Chart String (U of M only). There is an
additional, $105 fee to be paid by check only for academic credit. The
registration deadline is Monday, June 7, 2010.
