Grand Health & Resource Fair August 7th

Asian Indian Family Wellness /SEWA-AIFW, in collaboration with Hindu Mandir as well as other agencies, will hold a 'Grand Health plus Resource Fair'
on August 7, 2010 from 9am to 3pm at the Maple Grove Hindu Mandir community center's Nath Auditorium, hallway and surrounding rooms.

St. Paul Public School Summer Session is seeking multiple high school math and science teachers for its summer session, June 25-July 20 (no work on July 5), 2010. Candidates must hold a current MN teaching license in either secondary math or science (one or more science areas) and be able to pass a background check. The pay is from $28-30 per hour, 7 hours a day for 17 days, paid on a two week holdback. If interested, please apply online at https://alcelem.spps.org/site/apps/apps.php . Minneapolis Public Schools is looking for a high school licensed chemistry teacher. They would also be open to other life science licensed areas, but prefer chemistry. The start date is Tuesday July 6th and the end date is Thursday July 29th. With the exception of the first week the program runs Mon-Thursday of each week. The hours are from 8 to 2 at Washburn High School. The rate of pay is $25 per hours.
This is a web based program meaning all the assignments are completed through an online course. The teacher would be responsible for logging students in, answering questions, and turning in final grades. One final note there will be some training that will accompany this position. Beta of Clovia, a cooperative living house and sorority on the Saint Paul Campus of the University of Minnesota, is seeking a live-in Chapter House Advocate for the 2010-2011 academic year. The Chapter House Advocate serves in a guiding and supporting role for the members of Beta of Clovia. The position is not a professional house counselor, house director or house mother.

• Possess an understanding of college-aged students
• Be emotionally mature and able to assume responsibility and authority
• Demonstrate good communication, facilitation, and team skills
• Be able to live full time in the Sorority house during the full term of the contract
• Be, or become, familiar with the University of Minnesota programs and activities
• Have experience in a group or cooperative living situation such as a dormitory, resident advisor, camp counselor, sorority, etc.
• Desire to be involved with the activities of the Sorority

Compensation

Room and board is provided during the term of the contract. Includes private, furnished, air-conditioned room with Internet access, off-street parking, laundry, all utilities (except phone) and three meals per day when school is in session. An optional private phone line is available at your expense.

Research Assistant needed!

The Minnesota Early Learning Foundation Research Consortium is looking for 1-3 research assistants to collect data for a research study about childrens school readiness. Researchers will conduct child assessments with preschool and Kindergarten-aged children. These positions are temporary and part-time (20 hours a week or fewer).

Description:
Hennepin County Environmental Services is seeking an intern to assist with environmental education and outreach projects. This position
would assist with research, planning, and implementation of communications plans, and direct outreach through events and presentations.

Duties:
Develop messages and conduct outreach to multicultural audiences and other community groups.
Planning and staffing of booths at community events or environmental fairs.
Develop and implement communications plans, for projects like Cool County Initiative, Household Hazardous Waste Collection Events, recycling and
water quality issues.
Other communication duties and/or responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements:
Must have completed significant college level course work in communications, psychology, sociology, public administration or environmental studies.
Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint. Experience using Microsoft Excel and Publisher is desired.
Valid Driver's License.
Access to a vehicle to transport self and promotional supplies to and from events within the metro area.
Ability to lift 25 pounds.
Desirable if fluent in Spanish, Somali, Hmong or other foreign language.

Pay: $12.86 per hour

Work Hours & Duration:
Approximately 20 hours per week for up to 12 months. This position requires some evenings and weekend hours.

Macalester College - Strength and Conditioning Internship - Macalester College, a NCAA Division III member of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference is accepting applications for the position of Strength and Conditioning Intern. This is a volunteer position for the 2010 - 2011 school year, reporting to the Director of Athletics. The intern will assist the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach in developing, implementing, and conducting strength and conditioning programs for Macalester's 21 intercollegiate sports. Additional responsibilities will include supervision of Deno Fitness Center, maintaining equipment through daily maintenance procedures, and additional job duties as assigned by the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach. Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree in exercise science, sports medicine, physical education, or related field, certification in CPR/first aid, and have a strong desire to pursue a career in strength and conditioning. A time commitment of 20 hours per week is preferred, but not required. The intern will acquire valuable knowledge and experience in developing and implementing sport specific workouts for 21 intercollegiate sports a division III Liberal Arts College. The intern will also gain knowledge in the areas of nutrition, injury prevention, athletic evaluation, and fitness for general population. College credit can be given if arranged for and approved by the intern's educational institution.
