Macalester College Department of Athletics Strength and Conditioning Internship

Macalester College - Strength and Conditioning Internship - Macalester College, a NCAA Division III member of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference is accepting applications for the position of Strength and Conditioning Intern. This is a volunteer position for the 2010 - 2011 school year, reporting to the Director of Athletics. The intern will assist the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach in developing, implementing, and conducting strength and conditioning programs for Macalester's 21 intercollegiate sports. Additional responsibilities will include supervision of Deno Fitness Center, maintaining equipment through daily maintenance procedures, and additional job duties as assigned by the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach. Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree in exercise science, sports medicine, physical education, or related field, certification in CPR/first aid, and have a strong desire to pursue a career in strength and conditioning. A time commitment of 20 hours per week is preferred, but not required. The intern will acquire valuable knowledge and experience in developing and implementing sport specific workouts for 21 intercollegiate sports a division III Liberal Arts College. The intern will also gain knowledge in the areas of nutrition, injury prevention, athletic evaluation, and fitness for general population. College credit can be given if arranged for and approved by the intern's educational institution.
