Position Opening: Lead Teacher and Padres Coordinator

Joyce Preschool has been providing quality early education to children and families for over 40 years and two-way Spanish-English immersion programming since 1995. Programming maintains strong emphasis on kindergarten readiness, second language acquisition, development of early literacy skills and parent involvement in education. Joyce operates as a 501.c.3 nonprofit, is licensed by the Department of Human Services, accredited by NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children), and holds a four-star rating with Minnesota Parent Aware.

Joyce Preschool seeks a full-time Lead Teacher and Padres Coordinator to provide leadership in developing and implementing bilingual curricula, leadership and coordination of parent education workshops, outreach to the Latino community and translation of school documents and communication.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

(50% of position) Supervise, plan and implement linguistically, culturally and developmentally-appropriate instruction for students 3-4 years old. Coordinate team of assistant teaching staff. Ensure appropriate assessment for all students and interventions for students with special needs. Communicate with families regarding student progress. Participate in planning activities for family literacy support.

(30% of position) Coordinate monthly meetings of the AsociaciĆ³n de Padres de Familia. Provide advocacy and support to all families; ensure access to resources for Latino families who may be recent immigrants with specific needs. Promote parent leadership in the school, particularly among Latino families.

(20% of position) Community outreach, document translation; give presentations on our program model (model sharing).
Minimum qualifications:
Associate's degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field
2 years experience as a Lead Teacher in a preschool setting
Spanish fluency (spoken and written)
Experience with advocacy in the Latino community
Knowledge of local community resources available to the Latino community

Desired qualifications
Bachelor's degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field
3-5 years experience as a Lead Teacher in a preschool setting
Experience with parent education and/or home visiting
Experience in a bilingual educational setting
Experience with written and oral translation in a professional setting
Skills in public speaking and/or as a professional development trainer
