Professional Umpire/Referee

Have you ever thought of what it would be like to be in the NBA, NFL, MLS, or MLB? Even if you aren't a player, there are plenty of opportunities as an Umpire or Referee.

Being an Umpire or Referee can provide you the opportunity to be part of your favorite sport. While a somewhat small profession, there are hundreds of opportunities in Minnesota alone to get into this line of work.

Volunteering at the youth and amateur levels can open up doors for a position with a professional league. Nearly all organized athletic competitions need officials to enforce the rules for the game. A degree from CEHD in Recreation, Park, and Leisure Studies can be an important part in pursuing this career, as many positions do require a bachelor degree.

To find out more information about this exciting profession, visit iseek.org or search for available positions through ihiresportsandrecreation.com or GoldPASS.

Take advantage of the drop-in hours available through CEHD Career Services to help tailor your resume to this type of position.
