Function: The Employment Intern will assist the Employment Coordinator & Employment Specialist in the daily duties within the shelter by addressing the barriers of homelessness pertaining to employment

Key Responsibilities:
• Work one-on-one with clients to:
• Assist Employment Advocate with producing resumes & cover letters.
• Pick out items from our career closet for clients to get an interview outfit.
• Help clients fill employment applications out online & in paper form.
• Research possible short term trainings that clients may be interested in attending.
• Go over frequently asked interview questions to get clients ready for prospective interviews while at the shelter.
• Provide casual case management with PSP guests and keep accurate documentation of all interaction.
• Conduct job searches pertaining to the skill level of the clients at PSP.
• Update daily job resource book.
• Facilitate employment readiness lessons for current guests and Culinary Arts Training Program students.
• Research schools and short term trainings for PSP clients to attend.
• Make phone calls to prospective students and give them info about our training programs here at PSP.
• Some administrative duties: Email, faxing, making & receiving phone calls.
• Help coordinate Project Homeless Connect when the event is taking place, twice a year.
• Explore and learn more about the issues surrounding homelessness.

Unit Lead Information

The Unit lead wears many hats at our Beacon. They are a coach and mentor to youth workers, they are a resource for youth, and a representative of our Beacon to families, school and community members. Unit leads keep the program running smoothly by helping prepare schedules, maintaining group rosters, supporting youth workers with ideas, resources and behavior support. Unit leads must be flexible, organized, creative and a good leader. Each Unit Lead is responsible for a different age Unit: K-2nd grade, 3-5th grade

Here are some of the primary responsibilities:
1. Create, distribute and file youth registration forms.
2. General clerical responsibilities, including but not limited to faxing, filing, copying, and data entry.
3. Help keep the office space neat and tidy.
4. Partner with community partners, Beacons staff and school staff to support events and daily program needs.

5. Interact and maintain positive relationships with community partners, volunteers, Beacons staff, families, youth, school and district staff.
7. Create and modify documents using Microsoft Office (Word, Access, Excel, Publisher)

Youth Worker Information

Program staff are the heart of our Beacon. Youth workers are mentors, role models, allies and educators. They run the groups and keep the youth engaged and having fun. We encourage people to apply who have specialized skills that they can teach the youth (like dance, music, computer skills, art...you name it)! You don't have to have a special skill to work with us, as long as you are invested the success of young people, Beacons could be the place for you! Our groups are split between two units: K-2nd grade and 3-5th grade. Current positions are for 1-2nd and 3rd-5th grade units!

Here are some of the primary responsibilities:
1. Plan and run your own group of 10-15 kids during program (Monday-Thursday, 1-5pm)
2. Answer telephone and answer questions or take messages.
3. Interact and maintain positive relationships with community partners, volunteers, Beacons staff, families, youth, school and district staff.
4. Deliver programming based on positive youth development principles and the YMCA's Four Core Values (Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility)

6. Be a part of an ongoing process with youth and your colleagues to build and develop your skills as a youth worker.
7. Work as a team with your unit and center cohesively.
8. Implement a curriculum (as an individual / assigned) with an objective for young people.
9. Support program with general administrative responsibilities like taking attendance, giving surveys and some data entry.
10. Provide a fun and safe enjoyable experience to all program participants and partners/staff.

JOB TITLE: Member Advocate: Masters Degree Required
SUBSIDIARY: Clinical Operations

GradStaff is currently recruiting for a Member Advocate with a large mental health Insurance Company located in the Twin Cities.

GENERAL PURPOSE:
This position performs advanced Advocate duties which include: performing the role of mentor to new Member Advocates; delivery of training and orientation; and performing auditory function as assigned by supervisor. This position is also responsible for representing the company to all inbound callers. The Advocacy tasks of this position are varied and often complex in nature and include:
(1) Service and process explanation,
(2) Benefit, eligibility and complex claim interpretation,
(3) Screening and referral functions, services callers and
(4) Follow-up and service satisfaction,
(5) Participant Education needs based on participant's presenting problem/issues, and
(6) Access to care function.
This position services callers and problem-solves independently. Incumbents will Utilize Telephony, Web, and internal materials to achieve first time resolution for callers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Representing the company to all inbound callers
2. Registers participants in the intake system and opens case files.
3. Assists participants with requests for services.
4. Educate participants with respect to parameters of services and benefits design.
5. Educate participants with respect to presenting issues.
6. Provides participants with names and phone numbers of nearest providers according to contract, specialty, and/or geographic need and fosters introductions between parties.
7. Responsible for meeting Quality Indicators, 90% or greater each month.
8. Communicates pertinent data to providers when necessary, and alerts providers to expect participants' calls.
9. Completes ad hoc provider searches as needed and writes authorizations to insure claims are paid correctly.
10. Assists and supports care managers in the handling of crisis calls.
11. Provides follow-up calls to participants to assess level of services, PCP Coordination, alert to available web services, and completes outcomes follow-ups.
12. Completes service tracking and initiates the Concern, Complaint, Grievance (CCG) process.
13. Assists less seasoned Member Advocates as necessary.
14. Participates in auditing cases and/or acts as a point person for specific accounts.
15. Demonstrates a complete awareness and understanding of the responsibilities and workflows of the various departments within the site.
16. Participates in staff meetings and in-service seminars.
17. Completes additional tasks and projects as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE:
• Masters degree in mental health field or psychology/social work related field preferred (special note: this educational level may be required by some customers as designated specifically within their contracted services).
• Previous Customer Service Experience or related position.
• Superb interpersonal communication and leadership skills.

BACKGROUND:
• Two years of experience in a mental health, social service, or insurance setting preferred.
• Effective listening and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Ability to type effectively; strong PC skills/word processing experience.

Title: Middle School Mentor (Boys Group)
Employment Status: Part-Time School Year
Reports to: Middle/High School Specialist

Primary Responsibilities:
- Work with direct supervisor to develop lesson plans for the middle school boys mentoring group.
- Lead weekly activities for a small group of 6-8th Grade boys.
- Assist with the preparation and distribution of a healthy snack, and clean up after programs.
- Build trust-based relationships with youth and help communicate with families.
- Drive 15-passenger van for field trips during programs and to drop-off students after programs.

Required Qualifications:

- 21 years old or older, a valid MN driver's license and a good driving record.
- Strong interpersonal skills: able to build meaningful trust-based relationships with diverse youth and parents.
- Previous experience living/working in an urban setting.
- Must be an active person; able to lift and carry 20Ibs up and down stairs, comfortable running or swimming as part of youth activities.
- Previous experience working with middle school youth.
- Commitment to Banyan's mission.
