New book and award nod for Lewis
Professor Cynthia Lewis (curriculum and instruction) recently published a co-edited book. Reframing Sociocultural Research on Literacy: Identity, Agency, and Power articulates and develops the argument that new directions in sociocultural theory are needed in order to address important issues of identity, agency, and power that are central to understanding literacy research and literacy learning as social and cultural practices. The book has been nominated for the Edward Fry Book Award from the National Reading Conference. The award winner will be announced in November of 2007.
