CEHD Faculty: Please read below for an August 15 media request from our central University Relations office. If you'll be attending the upcoming political conventions, please e-mail Patty Mattern at mattern@umn.edu and Drew Swain at dswain@umn.edu:

I hope you all are enjoying a good summer. With the school year fast approaching and the National Republican Convention right in our backyard, we communicators at the University of Minnesota have an opportunity to help reporters find stories involving the RNC and the DNC and we also get a chance to bring attention to experts and stories at the University.

The Chronicle of Higher Education will be at both conventions and they are looking for faculty who are going to the conventions and how they will be participating in the political process. If you have faculty members who are participating in the conventions, please get some details on what they will be doing, their contact information and send that information to our office. I am on vacation right now, but my colleague Drew Swain (dswain@umn.edu) is also working hard on our RNC-related media efforts, so please make sure to reply to both of our e-mail addresses. I will be actually checking my e-mail while I am gone.

Please also let us know of interesting or unique stories happening at the U during RNC week because reporters will be looking for feature stories as well.

And, of course, let me know of national story possibilities out of your schools, departments and colleges. Thank you in advance for your help and I look forward to our work together this school year.
