STEM Education Center presents and exhibits at E4 Conference

The 4th annual E4 Conference was hosted by The Works and held on November 7, 2011 on the St. Paul campus of the University of Minnesota. The E4 conference focuses on Excellence in Elementary Engineering Education. The STEM Education Center both exhibited at the conference and led a breakout session. Topics presented at the conference ranged from the role of sports in engineering to NASA innovation.

Dr. Tamara Moore and Kristina Tank, a Graduate Research Assistant with the STEM Education Center presented to a full room on "Picture Books & Engineering: The Perfect Fit for STEM Integration". In this session, they presented the new curriculum they are developing using picture books to motivate an engineering design project and integrate mathematics and science content. Session attendees participated in a mini-version of the modules that would be made in classroom settings and learned about implementation strategies.
