STEM Education Center's Karl Smith participated in consensus study
Dr. Karl Smith of the STEM Education Center recently participated in the Discipline-Based Education Research: Understanding and Improving Learning in Undergraduate Science and Engineering consensus study to determine ways to improve student learning through evidence-based practice. Dr. Smith shared his knowledge as one of the two engineering experts in this study, which also had experts in physics, biology, geosciences, chemistry and astronomy. DBER field scholars agree that more findings from empirical research needs to be implemented into classrooms to achieve their goal of improving student learning.
