WCFE alumna named chancellor of Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville

Julie Furst-BoweOn July 1 Dr. Julie Furst-Bowe became chancellor of Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville (SIUE). SIUE is a growing metropolitan university of 14,400 students located 20 miles from St. Louis. Prior to accepting this appointment, Furst-Bowe was the Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs at the University of Wisconsin-Stout.

Furst-Bowe received an Ed.D. in vocational education in 1995 from the Department of Work, Community, and Family Education (now the Department of Organizational Leadership, Policy, and Development).

Recently, she also got to throw out the first pitch at a St. Louis Cardinal's baseball game (see video).
