EDPA alum appointed dean of faculty of foreign studies for Kyorin University

On January 20, 2014 Robin Sakamoto was appointed as the Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Studies for Kyorin University located on the Hachioji campus in Tokyo, Japan. She may be the first foreign woman to hold the post of dean in a highly respected Japanese university.

Dr. Sakamoto received her Ph.D. in educational policy and administration - comparative and international development education (CIDE) track from the Department of Educational Policy and Administration (EDPA) in 2006. In 2009 the Departments of Educational Policy and Administration and Work and Human Resource Education merged to form the Department of Organizational Leadership, Policy, and Development (OLPD).

According to the Kyorin University website, "the ultimate goal of the Faculty of Foreign Studies is to equip students with the language ability, communication skills, and other competencies needed for successful careers in business, foreign-language teaching, and service industries like hospitality and tourism".
