The Pedagogy and Student Services for Institutional Transformation Project (PASS IT) was developed to inform educators about the implementation of Universal Design in postsecondary settings. Specifically, PASS IT provides professional development resources for faculty and instructional staff and student services personnel that address work scope-specific ideas for creating more inclusive learning environments for all students. In 2008, PASS IT approached ATS to create a video for distribution on both DVD and the Internet. This video is an opportunity to share our experiences with this model from both faculty and student perspectives.

Fostering Active Learning in an Online Statistics Course

This project enables online students to experience the kinds of activities that are currently used in the face-to-face course setting. Activities for EPSY 3264 were designed to help students better understand different statistical ideas and concepts, and provide students with additional opportunities to become more actively engaged in their learning. Statistics games and activities engage and motivate in the Statistics classroom, whether online or not, and help learners better understand and visualize abstract ideas.

This project promotes interactive sharing of student-generated videos for peer review among a cohort of in-service teachers. Students share videos via MediaMill and VideoANT, and work within a course site in Web Vista.

Real Teachers, Real Classrooms: Creating a Video Clip Collection of Elementary School Teachers Teaching in Their Classrooms

This project intends to create a video library of instructional videos featuring in-service K-12 science teachers for use by C & I faculty. These videos will be used to demonstrate real-world applications of different teaching techniques for pre-service teachers in C&I (and, hopefully, the greater CEHD community).

Using VideoANT for Critical Analysis and Assessment of Online Digital Videos

The intent of this project is to enhance critical thinking skills of pre-service teachers through the video annotation process. Several video tutorials will be developed and will provide in-depth examples of using VideoANT for the interactive review and critical analysis of a student-produced video content.

Comparative and International Development Education: From Policy to Practice

Efforts for this project include the development of an online learning environment that allow and promote collaboration between three field sites in the Dominican Republic, Tanzania and the United States. The related course will be collaboratively taught by Prof. Vavrus at CEHD and Prof. Bartlett at TC, Columbia University.
