Description of Outage

This coming Saturday, August 1, 2009, between 6:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m., OIT will reboot the following servers:
* cfans-sqldata (all CFANS SQL-related applications)
* cfans-sqltest (a test machine)
* cfans-web1 (host of many CFANS websites that use basic html/asp - not Urban Planet)

Explanation

The reboots are necessary to verify that critical updates were applied successfully during the July maintenance weekend.

There is currently a network outage on the St. Paul campus affecting CFANS web sites, printing and the help desk, caused by an electrical outage. NTS has confirmed that networking connectivity is affected in the following buildings serviced by the Biological Sciences core router:

* Vo Tech
* Earl Brown
* Cargill
* Greenhouses & Animal Barn areas
* Equine Center
* Christiansen Labs

Description

During the maintenance window, all servers will be updated with the latest patches for their respective operating systems and may be rebooted.

An "all clear" will be sent once the maintenance is completed.

Description

On Wednesday July 1, 2009, CFANS OIT will begin the installation of the Acrobat Professional 9.1.2 patch for CFANS computers systems that currently have Acrobat Professional 9.1.0.

Process

SCCM will be used to install the Acrobat professional 9.1.2 patch. The installation will occur in the background with no interruption to service.
